Dear Coca Cola,
I have enjoyed you as a fizzy, refreshing, life saving beverage for several years. We have been very close the last few years. In fact, a little too close. I depend on you way too much. I call on you several times a day. I depend on you so much, I refuse to have anything else compete with you and your bubbly comfort. You have been there when I drop the kids off at school, when I'm frustrated, when I'm celebrating, when I'm alone and folding laundry. The thought of you puts a smile on my face. It's been a wonderful run, however, we've got to part ways. I am very concerned that my two year old sees McDonald's and instantly says "Coke, Mom?". I've seen her go from stealing sips to blatantly pulling you away from me and hugging you like a long lost friend. I'm afraid of the hundreds of thousands of calories I've wasted on just sugar and dark caramel syrup, of which I'm sure will create cavities and leave a souvenir of our times with darkened teeth.
I need to introduce myself to new friends. Real food. Not desserts, real food. So, dear coke, you and your sugary associates will not be as welcome in my house. You may come to call occasionally, but not as frequently as you do. You have worn out your welcome.
Whole grains, fruits and vegetables have been invited to take your place. These new guys don't have the appeal of your sleek, bubbly self with that sassy red straw, and they are a little hard to swallow, but in time, I'm sure we'll get along just fine.
But, as with all old chums, I look back fondly on the days of carefree consumption and realize that sometimes, all good things must come to an end.
It's been a long day, and I'd love to just have one more, for old times sake.
Your loyal follower,
Maureen

Oh you are so funny!! Good luck!
I would be happy to introduce you to my good friend, Diet Coke. Or perhaps even Diet Pepsi?
The fact you even wrote this means you are on the way to recovery. The road will not be easy, my friend, especially with your fond recollections of "the red sassy straw."
Please don't declare that you are eating fruit next. I won't even know who you are any more.
Baby steps girl... maybe if you are having uncontrollable withdrawls, try coke zero... the vanilla flavored one is quite nice. I want to quit diet coke, but so far the thought of giving it up gives me an ulcer. Maybe one of these days! Good luck!
